Privacy
Short version: we publish listings, we count visits without cookies, and the only thing you can give us is an email address for the weekly digest.
This page is the gate: the site captures nothing a visitor types until this page describes it. We re-check the "we will never" lines against the live code every time this page is republished.
In short
- No cookies. No account. No profile of you.
- One cookieless analytics counter on our own server, with your IP address shortened before it is stored.
- One optional newsletter form. It keeps your email and three optional answers, and nothing else.
- We never sell, rent or trade personal data.
Analytics (Matomo, cookieless)
| What runs | Matomo, self-hosted by Ummah Media Group at analytics.ummahmediagroup.com, site 37. No Google script, no ad pixel, no third-party tag manager loads on any page. |
|---|---|
| Cookies | None. The tracker runs with cookies disabled, so it cannot recognise you between visits. |
| What it records | The page address, the referrer, the time, your browser type and screen size, and your IP address with the last two bytes removed before storage. It also counts three actions: a newsletter form sent, a click on a listing's source link, and a click on a partner link. None of these carries what you typed. |
| Retention | Raw visit logs are deleted after 180 days. Aggregate counts (visits per day, per page) are kept. |
| Opt out | Matomo honours the browser "Do Not Track" setting. Blocking analytics.ummahmediagroup.com also works; the site runs the same without it. |
Newsletter sign-up
| What we store | Your email address. Optionally: a US state, a maximum monthly budget, and a car you want to hear about first (up to 80 characters). We also store the version of this page you saw and the page the form was on, so we can show what you agreed to. |
|---|---|
| Double opt-in | We first send a link to confirm your address. If you do not click it, the address is not added to the list and we send nothing else. |
| What we send | The weekly lease deals digest. When car alerts start, people who named a car hear about it first. We do not send anything else, and we do not share the list. |
| Unsubscribe | One click from every mail. The address is then removed from the list. |
| Export and delete | Write to salaam@realleasecost.com from the signed-up address. We send you a copy of what we hold, or delete it, as you ask. |
| Where it lives | On Ummah Media Group's own mail and newsletter servers in the EU. No third-party mailing service. |
| Spam guard | The form has a hidden field that people never see. A submission that fills it is dropped. |
Takedown and correction mail
When you write to takedown@realleasecost.com or salaam@realleasecost.com, we keep the mail and our reply for as long as the matter is open and for two years after, so we can show what was asked and what we did. We do not add the address to any list.
Server logs
Our web server records the request line, the time, the response code, the referrer, the browser string and the IP address, as every web server does, for security and troubleshooting. Logs are deleted after 90 days. We do not join them to any identity.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent or trade personal data.
- We never set a cookie or any other identifier that follows you between visits.
- We never load a Google script, an ad pixel or a social embed.
- We never publish a seller's name, phone number, email address or full VIN. They are stripped before anything is scored. If one reaches a page, it is a defect: tell us and it goes.
Your rights
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to delete it, and ask us to correct it. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Residents of the EU and UK have the same rights under the GDPR. Write to salaam@realleasecost.com. We answer every request and we do not treat you differently for asking.
